Market wrapped for me this Christmas.

Well that is it for this week. I pulled a whopping 35mins at the “office” on Tuesday and will probably do about the same today before calling it for the week.
With low trading volumes, any major rally or drop will not happen this week unless some super bad news comes out. It seems that each day there is “worse than expected” stats coming out but beyond that, it seems that the bottom of the market has come and gone and right now we are just floating before the next major movement takes place.
Tuesday was a fairly quiet day. My major hold in (NT) saw further movement today towards 0.32/share. This was great especially when last Thursday I was mentioning that to almost every friend that I thought might want to see a value pick. Well this was it. There will be fall back to lower prices, but with Nortel actually sitting on offers now, its a matter of time before something concrete comes into the media and this price shoots up. Right now its way undervalued, especially when Nortel is being offered $1B for a division of its company that only generated 13% of its total revenues. Yes, this probably made no sense to many, but basically Nortel is getting good money for a small piece of its pie.
Another part of Nortel that can make some money in my eyes is all the “campus” buildings it has created. With the Calgary offices closed, and Ottawa apparently on the same road, both are prime real-estate worth millions that can be snapped up. From my understanding, the Canadian government is looking for federal office space in Ottawa and Nortel office space seems to fit the bill. Nothing official yet. But I can also see that being a revenue stream that can bring in some funds.
(AAPL) was the other stock I was looking at and it did nothing to my liking. After yesterdays beat down, I knew it would rally a bit. I was hoping for further price pressure but I guess I will have to wait a bit longer. Although Apple did only go up a tiny bit, I will stick with my low entry price. If not, then no stress.
(CPY) which is a stock I was playing with last week shot up today and I was lucky on this one. I bought 1000 shares at $2.99 Tuesday and was freaking out when it started to touch $2.89 on GOOD news. In a nut shell, this company mentioned last week that Sears would be entering in a contract with them but nothing further was stated. Well today that information came into light and I assumed this would bring good news to the stock. Well it did towards the end of the day and with my set limit sell price of $3.59 hitting a high close of $3.80 I walked away Tuesday with a total profit of: $600 today!!
So in summary Tuesday I worked a total of 35minutes and produced $600 in profits. The rest of the time was spent studying and doing my normal daily activities. No boss, no deadline, no traffic. Very nice.
Wednesday I will be looking at (CPY) to maybe get in on the short side and watch Nortel closely. Since its a short trading day, that is about it.
Hope you all profit today!
Here is a quick video on investment strategies from Bloomberg that aired Tuesday. It talks about a few stocks. Pretty good info for new investors:
