Markets are shrugging this one off…
filed in My Investments on Dec.12, 2008
Okay, so this morning I woke up nice and early ready to go. I was logged into my brokerage account (both my Canadian and US accounts at the same time to be exact) via my laptop and had my desktop computer streaming all news I needed for the day.
Well at the open, (GM) opened down almost 30% and in a matter of 30 mins it was in a rally back to previous day levels. Can anyone explain this wonky movement? The GM bond is selling at 10 cents on the dollar but the stock is floating? Makes no sense. Unless anyone else can understand this logic and cares to explain (I’m all ears), I am chalking this one up to voodoo market activity.
I didn’t buy any stocks today. I should have got into (GM) at the low, but it was hard to read the direction and the quick rally up was too fast for me to want to participate. Hopefully some readers made some cash.
So far the overall markets have pulled up to break even levels, so if the market in the last 30 mins of the day falls, I will not be getting in.
Happy Investing!
