Monday Watch:
filed in My Investments on Mar.29, 2009
With a good week behind us, the thoughts of a positive start to the week are starting to decrease as markets overseas head lower on poor bank outlooks (again) as well as the sudden resignation of the GM CEO who was apparently asked by the White House to resign.
Friday I mentioned my intention to purchase (VVTV). Well I did get at slightly higher than I wanted but only with a small amount of shares. I got 3500 shares at $0.66/share. With the high swings on the price lately, my stop loss is set at $0.59 right now and on the after-hours, its already topped $0.83. This is a really good stock with lots of positive outlooks right now. With the hype starting to grow, you can see the chart since Thursday and how its gone from $0.40 to over double its price now. Not a bad train to ride.
Here is a great video on small and mid-cap value stocks:
For Monday News:
President Barack Obama’s rescue plan for Detroit automakers will be unveiled Monday, but one condition became clear today: the resignation of General Motors Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Rick Wagoner. Link.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said that the financial institutions of the country will require more aid, but he warned that the government is left with $135 billion in uncommitted bailout funds under the TARP program. Link.
Agrium’s latest bid for fertilizer rival CF Industries may be just enough for it to prevail in the three-way industry takeover melee, but if the stock market is telling you anything about the future, it’s saying that Terra Industries, the third company in the battle, is also likely to end up as somebody’s subsidiary. Link.
For Monday I will be looking at playing Nortel stock again. It seems to be on the move ever since last week and the sale of of its Radware division. Also, (CHCI) and a few other home related stocks might be poised for a rise after KB Homes said their loss has begun to narrow thanks to orders for new homes.
Happy Investing!

Wow Aman, good call on the stop loss. I saw Value Vision Media hit $0.6 before jumping back up. You called the swing nicely on this stock. I am also in now at $.61 with a small position.
